We have had some very solid fishing over the last few days! The mackerel were readily available and fresh bait equals great fishing, normally! I say normally because I had fresh bait from yesterday and did manage a 31" & 32" striper on todays charter, but the fishing was very slow! Last nights thunderstorms are all I can think of to explain the change in fishing. The previous two days saw many more "keepers" plus schoolies and a few bluefish come over the side of the boat. Many for a quick photo and release.
As I am writing this I just got a report that the mackerel were back "inside" and I have renewed hope for a steady catch of bass for tomorrows trip! Last year we had lots of striper's through July. It is looking like we could see a repeat this year as well!
Good fishing

PS. For those who have been on my boat and heard me chant, " a drag is not a brake, leave it as lose as you can". The photo below is exactly why I say it! Joe would certainly have lost his bragging rites if he had muscled this girl in. By the way, 36" and 15#s. Good Job Joe!
