Last weekend we had Hurricane Bill to contend with, this weekend it is Tropical Storm Danny! Let's HOPE it behaves and does not become a hurricane!
After the water settled down this week the fishing picked up where it had left off, GREAT! As of today, I have had more than twice as many keeper sized (or better) striped bass in the boat than I have ever had in the month of August! Last Wednesday 8 of 15 bass were 29"s to 33"s and 3-4 of the "shorts" were 27 1/2 to 27-3/4"S! Today I did a little re-con for tomorrows charter and of the 5 striper's I caught there was a 31", 32" & 371/2" bass in the mix! All caught on fresh mackerel! I admit they were a little difficult to find, but certainly worth the effort! PLUS there were surface feeds going on and reports of bluefish being caught!
The marine forecast says 2'-4' seas by Monday. If you go out, check the swells at the mouth of the Merrimack River first!! Better to wait until Tuesday than flip your boat in the mouth!
If this does not get you going, may I suggest knitting??
Good fishing

PS. A late entry of a photo taken last Friday of Jim & Alison Gubitz. Their June trip was rained out but I think we more than made up for it in August!!
