The river dredging project seems to be moving slower than anticipated. The storms pushing big swells onto the shallow water of the mouth required the dredging company to pull the 392' dredge Illinois back to safety.Hurricane Igor passed, the dredge was towed back out and the Salisbury portion of the project was completed last Wednesday, the 29th of September. Most of the pipe seems to be in place for the Newbury/ Newburyport phase of the project and the tugs pulled the dredge back out on Sunday (Oct. 3rd). With a 3 day Nor'Easter forecast we will have to see how that works out!
