Merrimack River Fishing Reports, Plum Island area,, Newburyport MA. > Better bass in deep water

28 Jun 2011

Just a quick report before I go back out!

Yesterday I found schools of bass out in deep water. It was the first time ( for me) this year that I had a chance to research some of last years haunts. In a couple of hours we "stalked" several schools of bass in 75' to 130' of water. The score was 3 landed, 1 "pony" dropped after a vicious run and 1 big bluefish. Then we went back to the river for more solid bass in the 29" to 31" range.

Remember; If you fish for bass in deep water you need to stay inside the 3 mile line. It is best to have software on your chart plotter that has that line delineated because it is your responsibility to know where the line is at all times.

Good fishing
