Merrimack River Report > The 2013 fishing season is over for Summer Job
The 2013 fishing season is over for Summer Job

Oct 19, 2013

I hate to say it but my season has ended. The boat is clean & waxed. The motor is winterized and the cover goes on today. But it was a very good year!

I have not written a report for a while but I was into fish until October 10th. My last trip on the 14th did not produce but the marina closes on the 15th so I was simply out of time.

We all know by now that there were no bluefish. This forced me to work the beaches because there were very few stripers left in the Merrimack River. Change can be good! By piecing together bits of info I've heard over the years and working with a few very dedicated friends, we found fish that we have missed in the fall for years! While I will not "spot burn", I now have a viable September charter fishery.

Shallow water striper!

An example of what I found this fall is the 38" striper (sorry, if this is the newsletter you have to go to the site to see the photo) that was one of 8 keepers I caught out of 12 fish on October 10th! That was a very fun trip! Not to mention that it was caught in 6' of water!!!

I will write a season in review later but until then just remember that there are only 29 weeks and 6 days until the marinas re-open!

Good fishing
