Finally caught a striper!

May 14, 2014

I just got home from a visit with our grand daughters in Florida and had to get out there to see what was happening. I've been reading about stripers under the birds off the beach, but did not see any. Maybe it was because of the SE 10-15 wind that had all of the flags out straight! Probably closer to 15-20! After taking my lumps for a while I went in the river and tried Joppa Flats for a while. The weather was better but still no fish for me. I've heard that there have been a few schoolies caught at Rocks Village swimming with the shad so I headed up river. I did not make it to the Rte. 95 bridge before I found my first 4 stripers of the 2014 season! It was challenging because I was "drifting" up current with the wind and casting a 1/4 oz. jig w/ 4" soft plastic was interesting but I did it! let the games begin!
