Finally!! Real good news!
Finally!! Real good news!
Jun 13, 2014
I've been quiet because the fish just kept making a liar out of me! We would get fish, then they would hide. Bait would come in, then move. I'm not saying I was not catching stripers, just not as readily as I am used to. Working hard to catch 8 fish with 1 or 2 being keepers is not what we all expect of June. It was back to fishing in very specific places at exactly the right time of tide.
2-3 days ago it started to make a turn for the better. Fish are not only feeding on the out going tide but the incoming as well. There are good fish being caught on Joppa Flats. I was working the beach front and catching bass both on live lined mackerel and my favorite Ocean Lures plug the swimming bait fish! In fact I missed a lot of fish because I was trying to do both at once and I still need to grow that 3rd arm. It was fun though!!
Mackerel were at Breaking Rock yesterday in numbers. Nice tinkers & medium size baits. Hampton Shoal Ledge was giving up a few also. There have been a few bluefish bite offs in the mouth so I guess that is why the macks keep moving around. It is not unusual to find a few blues around this time of year but then they get cold & move on.
So charter season is finally in full swing. Please check out the calendar if you are thinking about catching a few stripers. We always to catch dinner and have a good time on Summer Job.
Good fishing
Capt. Scott
