Keepers are here!

May 18, 2017

Yesterday I caught my first mackerel of the season! They were not easy and they were 5-6 miles out but it marks the beginning of the really good fishing in the river!! I was late for the tide but just had to try live lining a mack. First drift I caught a 29 1/4", fat, striper!!

Today I picked up macks again but they still have not settled in. I had another probable keeper but dropped it at the boat. I guess it really is time to put the net back into the boat!! I would have released it anyway but it would have been nice to confirm a 2nd keeper.

There are still thousands of Micro to Super Micro bass in the river. A 3/8 oz to 1/2 oz jig & a piece of your favorite soft plastic will get you as many fish as your thumb can take! "Schoolie Thumb" is back!!

Good fishing
