Tough weather/ wind week
Jun 21, 2017
The fishing has been good to great but not always easy. The #@^%& wind just would not let up at times and the rollers coming into the mouth were more of a challenge than some could handle. I was limited to fishing only the northern side of the river mouth because the other side was just to dangerous! It says in my brochure that "I always come home with the same number of people that I leave with" and I take that seriously.
The bait was spotty but is getting better. Fortunately there are enough fish in the river to force competition and the bass were eating the pollack we were using as well as the few macks we were able to catch. The crazed "Fish Family" fished with me earlier this week and Mike reminded me that this was the best day in 3 years and all fish were caught on small pollack. In the past 2 days I have been able to catch 40-50 macks a day. Not like the "quick 100" I was boasting about earlier in the season but better than 4-5 per trip!! As of 8:30 this morning I've had 2 reports of mackerel in deep water! Things are looking up! :))
Yesterday was a very good fishing day and all but 1 fish was between 25"s to 31"s. Still not a lot of big "market" bass around. A market fish is one 34"s or greater that the commercial guys can sell. I've only caught 1 this year @ 39"s which I released.
Today is the first day of summer, the wind is coming down and there are plenty of fish out there! So get out and fish!!
If anyone is looking to get out on the water, I'm booking trips in July. Please call me at 978-465-2307.
Good fishing
