I am sitting at my desk and just noticed I have mackerel scales all over my cell phone. For some that might be annoying, but normal for me and it means that the season has finally begun!
I covered a lot of ground today but unlike yesterdays 4 hour search, I found a couple of solid schools of macks and can start freezing them for chum and late season bait. I also saw my first 20# class striper today. It was chasing one of my macks and went under the boat. I do manage 1 or 2 big bass a year on a sabiki jig while catching bait!
I tried a couple of drifts in the river with a live mack but did not get any action. Tomorrow could be the day! The macks are only 4 or 5 miles off shore.
Good fishing
