Well the weather finally caught up to me and got so bad no one wanted to play in it. Geez, it was "only" a little thunder, lightning and torrential rain!! 1.61"s so far according to my rain gage. Actually, I pulled the plug on today and my folks from sunny California were not up for wind, drizzle and 57 degrees yesterday. I could not really blame them!
All & all the fishing continues to be very good. The mackerel, after a few days off last week, have been readily available and the bass are too! I've heard that there are big macks out on the 3 mile line but I have been staying closer to home and working the tides more closely this year.
The Slavoski Family gathered again from across the country for their annual fishing and bonding adventure. They fished 3 days in a 4 day time slot and caught a bunch of fish! One day the "young bucks" caught the fish and gloated. The next "older gents" got sweet revenge. It was worthy of a television show! They were catching more "keeper bass" than there were allowed to take home so spirits were very high! On day 3 the wind kept us in the river and they found a bunch of fish with 5 for the grill so our "bad day" did not turn out so badly after all.
The weather is looking pretty good for the rest of the week. I have a full slate and then the month will be over. It is hard to believe how long it took, especially this winter, for the bass fishing to get started and now June is almost behind us! July is my 2nd best month for stripers and the weather tends to be a little "kinder" to my anglers. If you missed out on June, please give me a call for July!
Good fishing
