Incredible May continues!
18 May 2012
This incredible May continues to shine! Whether on a charter or pre-fishing for a charter I have been catching stripers and 2-4 keepers per trip! Normally I would just be catching my first fish now & consistent keeper action would still be a couple of weeks away!!!
The fishing is most reliable with the out going tides though I am starting to see some life with the turning, incoming tide too. All of my fish have been caught inside the river but I'm certain there are fish at the mouth too.
The mackerel were at breaking rock yesterday and I caught my first tinkers! They are not easy but with plenty of chum you can catch enough to fish the tide. As a side bar; I was at a Marine Resource Education Program seminar last month and a dragger fisherman mentioned he was seeing more tinker mackerel off the Cape than he had in years! This could mean another great bait year like last summer!!!
If you are getting the "itch" to get into the action, I have open days in my schedule. May is pretty open as is the first week in June. Early Fathers Day gift??? Just a thought..............
Good fishing
