Merrimack River Fishing Reports, Plum Island area,, Newburyport MA. > May keeps on getting better!

24 May 2012

I check out the fishing every 2-3 days so I have the confidence I need to catch my clients fish. Let's face it, no one wants to just go on a boat ride!

I just came in from the best day of the 2012 season at the mouth of the Merrimack! There are nice fish under some of those birds now and it was fun. I was headed out for mackerel but stopped and got 2 keeper (29" & 30") bass on the spin rod. Then I trolled up a couple of schoolies just to do it.

The tinker mackerel have been in big time but a 9:30 start was a little late. I did get 20 or so and went back to the river. I managed 3 more keepers to 32"s and several more schoolies for a total of 10 fish. All of this on the flat or incoming tide!!!! Yes, I am setting my alarm tomorrow morning, this was just to much fun not to do again!

I still have open dates if you want to catch a few of these fish!

Good fishing
