Merrimack River Fishing Reports, Plum Island area,, Newburyport MA. > Bluefish are biting!

29 Aug 2012

The stripers are still playing hard to get for now, but the bluefish are biting! They are feeding on a combination of sand eels and/ or 4" herring depending on where you fish.

I went out late  (9:00 am) today just to see what was happening. I have to admit it was one of those days and I dropped a lot of bluefish on the way to the boat, but I landed 19! There was some surface action but most were caught on the troll. This is great family fishing! No 6:00 AM starts (7:30-8:00 works) and everyone can catch a bluefish!

Good fishing
