Merrimack River Fishing Reports, Plum Island area,, Newburyport MA. > Stripers are in the Merrimack!

16 May 2015

Two days in a row, must mean they are here to stay! Yesterday I picked up a nice chunky schoolie on my first pass & my first day on the water! I knew I was going to catch many more so I did not get a photo, not!  After searching for a bit I found a small school on the surface. I missed several (real short hits) but landed 3 more. Four stripers on my first day out, I've done worse. Any early season day on the water is good & catching is much better!

Later another  charter captain I know went out with 2 friends for the incoming. He found a good school, a little bigger (of course) & they got the first 2 keepers that I know of.

Today I got out a little earlier and a few of us found a school that staid up for over an hour! They were fussy but I picked up another 6 fish. I also saw a keeper caught & released.

So it is time to dust off the waders or finish rigging the boat because striper season 2015 is here!

Good fishing
