Merrimack River Fishing Reports, Plum Island area,, Newburyport MA. > First Keeper!

26 May 2016

I went out this morning to work on filling my freezer with bait for the summer. It took patients and a few miles to find them but I did locate tinker mackerel! Spectacled Apron worked yesterday, today it was east of Hampton Shoal Ledge. With a tank full of bait I "had" to try for a bass!! I believe that it is a State Law that you have to fish if you have fresh bait. Really, look it up!

The tide had just turned & the wind was pushing me into the jetty so I moved up river. One live tinker produced my first keeper of the season! 28 1/2"s, not a record, but released for you to find later this summer!

This summer just keeps looking better & better!

Good fishing
