Stripers are settling in.

Jun 2, 2011

While the mackerel can be a little challenging at times, they are "in residence". That means one day you can find enough to fish with and the next you can find enough to fill the boat!

The stripers however seem to be settling in nicely. Today I dropped a tinker mackerel from yesterday in the river and within 5 minutes I was tight to a nice 30" bass! Over the next hour (or less) I caught 7, missed 1 and 5 were cookie cutter 30-31" bass! For the record, the 2 shorts were just shy of 28"s.

Since my goal for the morning was to catch summer bait for the freezer, I left the bass alone and headed out. Unfortunately, for the second day in a row I was forced in by weather. Sever thunder storms yesterday and a real nasty wind today. I guess I will have to try again tomorrow.

Good fishing

Capt. Scott
