June fishing is outstanding!
Jun 13, 2012
June fishing just continues to impress! The weather is it's same old cranky self at times, but the fish do not seem to mind. After a 3 day storm the mackerel were a little scattered but the stripers were still at the mouth of the Merrimack and hungry! I will not lie, bait can be hard to come by, especially the past 3-4 days. Breaking Rock is not producing, you have to go out into deeper water (60-90') and chum heavily. It can take a while but the effort is worth it. There are a lot of stripers in the 30" to 34" range and they are fat health!! A 30" bass fights like a 34" fish of last season! There have also been more surface feeds than I've seen in years. It is reminiscent of the schoolie feeds we used to get but these fish are from 26" to 34"s! They are feeding on 2-3" sand eels so guys with soft plastics are doing well at times too. Good fishing Capt. Scott
