Stripers are in Situate!

Apr 30, 2017

The shad are running in the Merrimack River. As of 4-29-17 there were schoolies with sea lice on them in Situate MA! (Sea lice do no real harm to a health striper but they are a great indicator of a migrating fish. They (sea lice) cannot live in brackish water where the hold over stripers are or have spent the winter). There are keepers in the mix of schoolies off Cape Cod. Finally there were lots of mackerel offshore yesterday. These macks were spotted by Capt. Gabe Marks while piloting the Captains Lady II out of Plum Island MA.

I'm putting the final touches on the pre season prep. Capt. Pete, Smelly Bob & I spent several hours doing the final chum grind to get us through the season.
(there are photos if you go the the web site)
I now have over 150 bags of chum to bring in the mackerel so we can catch the big one! It's all about preparation and positive thinking!!

My next report will include the results of my first boat ride of the year while using the new outboard. With any luck I will also be holding my first schoolie of the season!!

Good fishing
