Merrimack River Fishing Reports>
Capt. Scott Maguire, Newburyport MA
Megan and Fishing Report

6 Aug 2009

I have recieved several e-mails, calls and a very nice card with concerns about my grand daughters case of swine flu. I am very happy to report that she has fully recovered! She is back at summer camp, jumping into the pool and doing everything a happy, healthy, (almost) eight year old should be doing on summer vacation! I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and kind words. It was nerve racking to say the least but she is just fine now!!!!!

The fishing, in a word, has been solid. We would all like to see 30 fish days but it is August and several stripers with a few keepers in the mix is not a bad way to spend a warm summers day. The irony is we have had bluefish to the south of the river and still cooler water with mackerel to the north! Catch a few macks, bring them back to the river to introduce them to Mr. Striper and it makes for good action! Then troll south for a few hard fighting bluefish and life is indeed very good!

I'll leave you with a photo of Mark's released striper.

Good fishing

Scott
