June is my "hard core" month. Most of my clients are returning veterans and know the fishing is good. They also know that I am booked up so unless there is a thunder storm or a gale, we go fishing! I look forward to June all year but this year we fished in rain gear and polar fleece a lot more that any of us enjoy! But the fishing was good and there were even more fish over 28"s in the boat this year than last so it was definitely a success.
July is my second best striped bass month. It used to be Septembers "fall migration" but there have not been a lot of fish north of us for the past few years so July has taken over the #2 spot. It is also warmer and often more family oriented. Elias' group had a blast catching bait and the striper for dinner was a bonus!
.
The stripers have moved out of the river to some degree with the day time water temps in the 70-71 degree range. They are still at the mouth on the out going tide and now the incoming. Mackerel are available if you chum. There are also a few bluefish around. Not enough to target but just enough to spook the macks so it is good to have a couple of locations in mind to look for bait.
The fishing is good so call for a day on Summer Job!
Good fishing
